Yankee Alliance Winner of 2013 Healthcare Supply Chain Achievement Award

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – February 12 2013; Andover, MA

The ECRI Institute® (www.ecri.org), an independent nonprofit that researches the best approaches to improving patient care, announced that Yankee Alliance was a winner of their 2013 Healthcare Supply Chain Achievement Award. The prestigious award honors healthcare organizations that demonstrate excellence in overall spend management and in adopting best practice solutions in their supply chain processes.

Mark Scagliarini, Chief Supply Chain Officer, Yankee Alliance said, “Yankee Alliance is honored to receive this recognition. It serves to validate our mission to reduce members’ supply and operating expense through aggregation of data, purchasing, ideas and knowledge. Yankee Alliance tests all contract pricing against the marketplace through the use of ECRI’s benchmarking capabilities.  Additionally, as part of our SUPPLYview™ program, Yankee Alliance includes ECRI’s easy to use tools as part of our analytic services to our members.”

Mark continued, “In today’s cost reduction, quality of care focus and changing reimbursement environment the use of supply chain analytics is absolutely essential for all healthcare providers. Price benchmarking of equipment and products must be part of the sourcing process to ensure best in class pricing is achieved.”

Anthony J. Montagnolo, ECRI Institute Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer agrees. He states, “As our nation grapples with an array of confounding healthcare issues, it is our great honor to announce the outstanding success of Yankee Alliance in achieving better supply chain value, and thus better healthcare, for all of us. We congratulate and thank them for their great work.”

Yankee Alliance was chosen out of nearly 2,500 hospitals and health systems who subscribe to ECRI Institute’s PriceGuide™ and SELECTplus™ supply and capital procurement advisory services.

The evaluation process included a complete study and analysis of each organization’s purchase order history, submitted on a routine basis. In addition, ECRI Institute looked at supply chain initiatives that included ongoing and consistent spend management and market analytics efforts for all medical devices, including capital medical equipment, supplies, physician preference items, service contracts, reagents, and others.
